Taste of Happiness

Taste of Happiness

Am I a happy man? Or I am just pretending. What can determine this? May be, it is just like a sparrow that flies from house to house that makes us think that the bird is our pet. But, it is actually not.

I am sure that in most of the interviews that we have been through, we were asked 'What is your happiest moment?'. Do we really have answer to it? No! Because we often don't keep good memories with us as it fades away as time passes by. But it is other way round when it comes bad moments. Because it is our nature that we are happy never satisfied with small happiness. That is the reason we always think 'I am the only unluckiest person who is away from Happiness'.

Being said that, again the same question comes to my mind "what is happiness?” I believe it is a moment that gives  you relief and force, that drives you to positive living. If this is that important, why am I missing it? May e are just neglecting it.

Actually, we come across the happiness hundreds of times everyday.

Yes, every day! Every time you wake up there is bed tea ready for you, everyday you are ready clothes are ironed for you, there is food available for you unlike many unfortunates, you have a personal vehicle to commute where others still have to use public services, you have a job to earn wherein many just do anything for the whole day but they don't earn much and many many more. All of the above may not be happening in the exactly same way with every one. But I am sure that every one of us has things like these that many others don't. Does all these matters? Yes, it does a lot. But we forget these and try to find happiness only in those that we don't have. If you still find it hard to believe, just imagine life without all these. How was it? Disastrous?

So let us not really get ourselves into somethings that doesn't exist and cherish the life with what we have.

There is nothing much to talk about. It is simple thing but life boosting. Cheer up!

A Day in Corporate life

A Day in Corporate life

"Corporate life". One must not have ever heard this word in childhood. Not in any of the phases. But the time has come, years of studies past. Now we get to hear this word "Corporate". What does this word actually mean? We never knew and this got lost in our daily routine.

As time passes by, we try to find a job. After a lot of trials, so called "failures", we found one and we are the kings and Queens of the world when we find one.

There comes the first day of our first job, and there is when we hear this word again from a beautiful lady who walks in the conference room for induction.

"Corporate""Corporate".

But what is this?

Oh! Is it the huge buildings with glassy walls and full of trees and garden around or is it the people moving around with laptops talking to each other in English using lots of jargon about work. Whatever it is, makes us very nervous. We dont know anything and there is an ocean to explore in future days.

Sometimes, I wondered, will there be any person who thinks like me, who has same simple way of living and who comes from a family which thinks a lot when it comes to spending each penny. And whenever we see a person at the workplace, we wonder, why is he so serious? Can't  he even smile. Is this "Corporate"?

Month passes by, we become a part of all that what we thought about Corporate. But How? May be the timeline crunches and the One-O-Ones are the reason. But there are numerous other reasons as well, to get versed in this world. What are they? There is a very big answer to it. You know, most of the times, you feel that there is an emptiness in here. No one to look after you because no one is allowed to even have a look at you from your home. All alone from your people. But one day, you see that you started to make circle of friends in here and you start to live your life in here as well. There are many seasons in this world too. One is when you find an electric smile of a girl whom you always thought of talking to. It feels great. Isn't it? But the question is how long that smile will last for me.

Of course, few smiles last forever. But you know that those are not real.

God knows what makes them smile even when they don't feel to.

One fine day I found the person who took my interview.......I remember, he asked me at the interview, "where do you want to see yourself after 2 years?", and without even waiting for a second thought I said “Team Leader".

Now every time I recollect this moment, I laugh at myself after realizing what it takes to become a Team Leader.

I didnt see much difference in this corporate life to school life. In school life, we studied for marks. Whereas in here, we work for promotion or recognition. Nothing is great!

One thing is for sure! How much ever great it may look from out side, it will look great, the difference can only be seen once get into it.

But hey, how much ever you say about corporate, It is the only thing that is giving you an identity to the world, and confidence to build your life. Be it a home or your family or neighborhood. And I believe we should never forget it.

Did you ever think that we have been talking about this world so long? But how do we come to this world daily. Obviously, the answer is, using Transport. But it is never a regular transport that comes in mind.

Because it is when you feel 'Got to go to Office, perhaps there could be a way to take a leave'. But the same transport becomes a Jolly ride when you are going back to home from work when you feel 'this evening should never end'.

Doing all this, months passes by, years passes by, and after all these years, few of us try to find different meaning of "Corporate world". But most of us already realise that it is no different world. All it takes is what it is paying for.

I CAN

To get correct answers, one should start by asking right questions. Here is few

  • How many times you stepped back and said “Next time”?
  • How many times your fear stopped you to address the big crowd?
  • How many times you forced yourself to sit without asking any doubt in the training session?
  • Why did you hide your face to avoid questions by your trainer?
  • Why did you stand behind to lead anything?

We are done with few questions. Now let us understand what made you to do so.

1.       Hesitation:  If you want something, you have to go and get it. Otherwise your wish will not be fulfilled. Different people have different upbringing experiences. Few people might have grown up in an orthodox cal way, few might be reserved type of mentality; few might be scared of opposite gender.

Here are few tips.

Have a chat with your colleague on a lighter note. Wish everyone in your work atmosphere. Next time, your mind doesn’t get any feeling of hesitation while speaking with them. Over a period of time, you will be good at dealing with strangers as well.

2.       Fear:  People won’t kill you, if you ask a doubt or raise your hand to answer the question. Your doubts will not be clarified unless you keep your fear aside and speak. You might have wasted time and money, if you don’t use the platform with the mask of fear.

3.       Don’t give up because YOU CAN: The easiest thing in the world is to give up. But you will not get anything out of it. Just go for opposite. You will see the beauty of accomplishment, sense of achievement and self satisfaction.

Next time when you attempt something, be confident that you can do justice to it. Don’t loose hope. Don’t be scared of repercussions. You can do anything if you put hope, persistence in your life. Success is a series of small attempts. Sometimes you may not see immediate results. Patience is important. Remember that you are closer to success than yesterday. Your efforts will be trashed, if you give up.

Build Relationships

Build Relationships

One will be surprised at how the couple, people are spending their lives!!!

Weekdays are filled with scheduled & unscheduled meetings, quick lunches, gossips on wide variety of topics, special coaching sessions with boss, waiting for cab, stuck in traffic for hours, sleeping with half-stomach. Kids with homework, studies.

Thank God It’s Friday. Weekend. Weekends are filled with bars, pubs, movies, shopping.
Days are gone.

Summer holidays. Couple enquired the whole city and joined their kids in summer camp. Karate, swimming, dance, music etc,. Finally June came. Again, the same routine.

It is the life of almost everyone. May be Puri replaces Idli, Bike replaces Car, dinner menu might be different.

People are living together like machines are placed side by side. Parents are earning machines, kids are reading machines. Kids are spending time with computer games and adults with Facebook, twitter etc,. Weekends in bars, pubs, shopping complex. Unknowingly or with complete awareness, people are leading hardcore materialistic lives.

Does anyone spend time with their grannies and listen to their words, stories? This generation is well aware of all the series of Harry Potter. Just question them about Indian epics and see the blank expression on their faces as if they are asked rocket science at the age of 3 years. Earlier, all the kids gather in the evening and force their elders to tell them stories. Grannies used to teach stories with moral value, the greatness of Indian heroes in the history. Thus, the values are injected in the lives of children. They help to lead their lives with satisfaction.

Does anyone spend time with orphans and understand the greatness of relationships? They don’t have parents, relatives. We are struggling a lot though everything is supplied on time by our parents. Can you imagine what would be the situation of the people who are not received by anyone. Can you imagine the struggle they do every day. They know very well about the relationships.

Don’t spend too much time with physical world, Digital world. Try to build relationships. Go to every function that you are invited. Greet everyone with smile. Had a chat. Know them. If possible, invite their family to your home. Try to know what happened to depressed colleague in your office. Listen to them. Console them. If possible, suggest them what needs to be done. Visit nearby orphanage. Spend time with them. They know very well about relationships than that of anyone. You will be the reason of smile on their face for a moment.

At the start of the day, you earn, you enjoy, you struggle. But at the end of the day, it is relationships that make you happy, gives satisfaction.

Next time when you happen to see your colleague depressed, go and have a chat. Spend few days of your summer holidays with your grannies, relatives. Expand your relative network. At least, monthly once vist nearby orphanage or old-age home.

See the difference in your life!!!!

Relationships are more important than life...But it is important for Relationships to have life in them.
